Take on one of the greatest challenges in aviation history with the Kai Tak flight experience. Officially shut down on 6 July 1998, Kai Tak airport, Hong Kong was known among pilots as one of the most difficult airports in the world to fly into.
Skimming along the rooftops of Kowloon, an area with a population density of 5 million people per square kilometer, the safety margins are tight and the potential for catastrophe is ever present.
Kai Tak was a captain’s only landing and the use of autopilot or auto - throttle was strictly prohibited. You will use the unique instrument guidance system (IGS) to guide you toward the famous checkerboard. With just seconds to go to landing you decide if it’s safe to continue, before making a visual descending turn between the buildings onto runway 13.
Kai Tak will put your flying skills to the ultimate test, as captain of a Boeing 737 flight simulator have you got what it takes to land a £100m aeroplane with 203 souls on board safely.
